DJ Rizzo is the DJ alias of Richard van Erk, for whom music has always played a central role in life. At the age of five, he began taking classical piano lessons. As time went on, his interest gradually shifted toward popular music. Experimenting with his tape deck—trying to blend two tracks together—became one of his favourite pastimes. In the mid-1980s, DJ Rizzo started collecting music of all kinds. What began with popular Top 40 hits soon evolved into a deep passion for the distinctive sound of Italo Disco.

 

In the late 1990s, trance music truly captured his attention. He spent countless hours in his small home studio, fully immersed in the genre. Together with two close friends who shared the same passion, he began DJing as part of a trio known as The CD-Jay Team. Initially, they played sets exclusively for friends, but over time they started performing at local trance events and became resident DJs at Club Fixxion. They also hosted broadcasts on the local radio station Stadsradio Delft.

 

After ten years filled with music and great memories, The CD-Jay Team eventually went their separate ways, with each DJ choosing a different path. Today, DJ Rizzo is a resident DJ at Intense Radio. Every Sunday night at 21:00 CET, he presents his weekly Trance Classics mix, delivering a carefully selected collection of timeless masterpieces from the past, seamlessly blended in his own unique style—sure to bring back some unforgettable memories.
